CPA PEP Examinations

Examinations are used to measure whether students have acquired the knowledge and developed the skills and competencies expected within the modules and courses. When you write examinations, you will use a laptop computer to input your responses for calculation and reference purposes.

Exam Regulations

It is your responsibility as a student to prepare for the examination. Ensure you have read the Examination Rules and Regulations.

Exam Software *not relevant for September examinations

The CPA profession will provide you with a CPA-issued laptop to write your examination using Surpass (SecureClient). As a result:

  • You will not be required to install the SecureClient on your laptop;
  • You will not need to complete the SecureClient Activities;
  • You will no longer be permitted to bring your own laptop to the examination writing centres; and
  • If you prefer to use a mouse to write the exam, you will be required to bring a plug and play wired mouse to the exam as one will not be provided. The CPA-issued laptops come equipped with a built-in or external numeric keypad.

The Summer 2021 CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) assessments will no longer take place in-person at exam writing centres but will be delivered remotely. Candidates will write their assessments at home using their own computers on the evaluation dates and times specified below. The assessments will be administered through D2L. To prepare to write your assessment, ensure that you have:

  • Reliable Internet access
  • Word processor (i.e. “.docx” format) and spreadsheet (i.e. ".xlsx” format) applications installed on your computer

Previously, the dates scheduled for the assessments were September 22 and 23, 2021; however, to minimize conflicts for candidates writing multiple assessments during this evaluation period, the assessments will be written over five (5) business days. Each assessment will commence at 12:00 p.m. EDT.
