Michael S. Rousseau, FCPA, FCA

Michael Rousseau has been one of the key leaders and contributors to Air Canada’s successful transformation, improved liquidity, reducing the company’s overall risk profile, and developing several value enhancing initiatives and strategic direction. As Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer for the past 10 years, his accomplishments include restructuring the approach to pension investments and taking Air Canada from a $4.2 billion pension deficit in 2012 to a surplus of $1.9 billion in 2017. Michael was awarded the prestigious Canada’s CFO of the Year 2017 Award, and Air Canada was named a winner in the 2017 Airline Strategy Awards – Finance category. Michael also volunteers with the Air Canada Foundation where, from 2012 to 2015, he helped raise $730,000.

Roy Scaini, FCPA, FCA

Roy Scaini is the Chief Executive Officer of Barometer Capital Management Inc., a private portfolio management company. As CEO, Roy successfully developed and executed Barometer’s strategic plan, growing its client asset base from $500 million to $2 billion. Roy is well-respected in Canada’s financial services industry with extensive experience in the wealth management sector, including as SVP and CFO of CIBC, Wealth Management, where he facilitated CIBC’s acquisition of Merrill Lynch’s retail brokerage and asset management businesses. Since 1999, he’s also volunteered as Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Humber River Hospital Foundation’s Governance and Marketing Committee, where he helped campaign to raise $85 million to build the Humber River Hospital.

Robert G. Simon, FCPA, FCA

As Vice-President, Finance, Robert Simon is a key member of the executive team at Olympic Forest Products Inc., a hardwood-lumber wholesaler and distributor in the Greater Toronto Area. Robert has the overall responsibility for all financial decision-making and reporting and has been pivotal to the success and continued growth of the business both nationally and internationally. Since 2005, Robert has contributed over 3,000 volunteer hours on the Professional Conduct Committee of CPA Ontario (and the legacy ICAO), serving as Chair from 2014 to 2017. An active member for the past 15 years with Scouts Canada, Robert has been a trainer, Deputy Area Commissioner for Mississauga, as well as contact leader, and has mentored hundreds of adults and youth.

Stuart H.B. Smith, FCPA, FCA

Stuart Smith became Chairman of Epic Investment Services Inc. in December 2016, after leading the amalgamation of Epic Realty Partners Inc., Alasco Services Inc. and Stone Cap Realty Group with AIMCo. This transaction created a company with $14 billion in assets under management. A CPA Ontario Life Member, Stuart’s volunteer involvement in the accounting profession included being a member of the CICA Innovation Council and Tapestry’s Canadian Audit Committee Network. He’s also volunteered his time for several charitable and community organizations, including sitting on the Board of The Hospital for Sick Children, Trillium Health Centre, Credit Valley Hospital and Knowledge First Financial. He is a member of the World President’s Organization.

Daphna Smuckler, FCPA, FCA

As BDO Canada’s Leader of Audit & Assurance, Daphna Smuckler manages the firm’s largest service line practice. Under her leadership, Daphna has grown and energized the practice significantly by focusing on collaboration, innovative ideas and engaging talent. To further inspire and lead by example, Daphna launched the "Women at BDO” initiative, the firm’s first inclusion and diversity program. She was previously the Chair of BDO Canada’s Board and is currently a member of the BDO Global Audit Innovation Committee. Over the past five years, Daphna has played an active role on CPA Canada’s Small Company Advisory Group and as a Finance Committee member at Associated Hebrew School.

William A. Taylor, FCPA, FCA

Andy Taylor has worked at the Corporation of the City of Markham for 25 years, currently as the Chief Administrative Officer. Andy has been a key force behind Building Markham’s Future Together, the city’s strategic plan. One measure of Andy’s success in aligning the organization to achieve its strategic priorities is the numerous awards the city receives, including one of the prestigious Canada Awards for Excellence (CAE) in 2015. Through Andy’s leadership, Markham became the first municipality to be recognized at the Gold Level for Organizational Quality & Healthy Workplace by Excellence Canada. Andy is also the President of Markham Enterprises Corporation. He volunteers for several local causes, including the Unionville Home Society and the Markham Board of Trade.

Heather L. Taylor, FCPA, FCA

Heather Taylor is the Chief Administrative Officer and Assistant Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in the Ontario Public Service and manages a budget of $1.1 billion for this critical global challenge. Heather is passionate about helping youth engage with government and business and in promoting the CPA designation. She is an award-winning university accounting instructor and is a strong mentor to CPAs through CPA Ontario. Heather has also been recognized for her strong leadership and advocacy of inclusion and diversity for women. Heather currently volunteers for four organizations, she created and launched the Government of Ontario’s Women in Government program and is an Honorary Chair for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation’s OneWalk annual event.

Erica M. Teklits, FCPA, FCA

Erica Teklits has been a partner with BDO Canada since 2000. Over her career, she has assisted with taking her clients public both in Canada and the U.S. Six years ago, she became BDO Canada’s National Industry Leader for the Not-for-Profit & Education sector. When Erica started as the NPO leader, the national production for the industry specialty group was $26.3 million, with approximately 2,200 clients. Under her leadership, production has surpassed $50 million with over 3,100 clients in 2016. Erica was selected to the AcSB Not-for-Profit Advisory Committee in 2016, where she provides valuable insight. She also volunteers her time as Board Chair of the Community Foundation of Mississauga, as well as Board Chair of Etobicoke Services for Seniors.
